The DaVinci Code

So by the title of this entry you can guess that I saw the DaVinci Code, but before I get there, let me tell you that the rest of my weekend was nothing really big. I had a migraine on Friday night (surprise) and then I took care of my friend, Zarra's daughter, Abby. I only watched Abby for a couple of hours until Zarra's boyfriend got home. Abby is such a sweetie pie! We watched "the candy movie" (Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory). Then today I went to see the DaVinci Code with my friend, Shani. I guess I thought it was a good movie, because it gets you thinking about Jesus. So no matter how you feel, it is a good movie to get people talking. I don't agree with the message of the movie, but I do think that it gives a different perspective. I still like the movie "Vendetta" better, though, for getting people talking and moving. Anyways, it's a must see, because you cannot have an educated opinion about something that you have never seen. That's my two sense. Tomorrow I have another interview with the Special Education district in this area and I then go see Peggy McIntosh speak (she wrote a piece about unpacking the invisible knapsack which is about white privelege). I will probably write again about tomorrow depending on how good of a speaker she is and how well my interview goes.

Snoopy

So, I decided to be a snoop tonight to see what some of my co-workers were up to on myspace. I was so disgusted with one of their websites. I have a bad feeling that he might have told some of the students we work with about his site too which is so inappropriate. In the process of looking on myspace, I decided to check and see if another one of my co-workers has a website, he does and also found out so does someone else I work with. The other two co-workers websites look pretty clean, but the one is trashy. Anyways, enough about my ranting and raving. Last night I went to a Pig Roast. Yes you read that right, a Pig Roast. I guess Chino Latino has a pig roast where you need at least 10 people and each person pays $23. They come out with the full pig and cut some of it up there. They then take the rest back into the kitchen where they come out with the head on a platter. That was the gross part. The meat was really juicy, though. They also served it with black beans covered in sour cream and cheese and plantains in cheese. It comes out with an appetizer dish as well. It was really good! I also had a lot of fun which kind of surprised me, because I was so nervous about seeing some of the people there. My friend, Katie, was so cool. She invited an old friend of ours from high school that noone had seen in a really long time. What a cutie! It was so good to see him. Hopefully he comes to our high school reunion as well. Anyways, I was supposed to have Girls Night Out tonight, but I had to cancel, because barely anyone could come so stay tuned. Anyways, I am still interviewing for lots of jobs, so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers (if you pray). I will continue to keep you posted on how it goes.

Festive Weekend

So I found out the hard way that it is really hard to update your blog when you forget your user name and password. So this was a really festive weekend. I was supposed to go to Cinco de Mayo, but I could not find anyone who wanted to go with me and since I have never been before, I did not want to go by myself. I did, however, make it to the Festival of Nations with Shani on Saturday. For some reason, it was not as much fun as it has been in years past. Shani and I figured that maybe it's because we have not missed one for several years. I might have to take a break next year, so it's more fun the following year. AND Cinco de Mayo will probably fall on the same weekend again. On Sunday, I drove my bike into Minneapolis and rode it over to the May Day Parade with Erica. It was really nice to get back on my bike again. It has been two years since I last rode. The parade was awesome! If you have never seen it and are more of a liberal democrate, then you should come with me to the parade next year. In The Heart of the Beast Theatre did all of the costumes for the parade. It was so awesome! When I get a copy of the pictures from Erica (I forgot to put the memory card back in my digital), I will post them online. It was awesome. I then went to the park to watch the ceremony and then rode back to Erica's by myself so that I could get over to my parent's house. My grandma is not able to be here for my B-day, so I had to get her B-day present. So, that was the weekend. I am not sure that this weekend will be too exciting besides the Race for the Cure and my B-day/Mother's Day celebration. I also have my first pig roast (thanks, Katie) on the 18th. I had a job interview on Monday, May 8 for a part-time position with Robbinsdale School District. I have another interview for a full-time job with Hopkins School District on my B-day (May 15) and another interview for a Guardian Ad Litem Coordinator position with Hennepin County on May 18. If some people are not aware, I will only have a 20 hour a week position next year with my current district, so I am either looking for an additional 20 hour a week position or a full-time somewhere else. Wish me luck! And ladies, I am hopefully going to have a date for Girls Night Out by the end of this week, so keep your eyes and ears open. I am leaning towards May 19, but I have to work it around two women's schedules.
